Aleric: Building a Character in Dragonbane
Character Creation in Dragonbane
Below I've posted the steps taken in creating Aleric for my solo play through of Alone in Deepfall Breach
1. Kin
For Aleric I am going with a Wolfkin for my kin. This gives my character the Heroic ability Hunting Instincts: I may spend willpower points to track creatures, following their scent. In combat I may use additional willpower points to gain a boon for an attack against my prey.
2. Profession
I'm choosing Fighter for Aleric's profession. He's going on a dangerous mission alone and will need all the fighting skills he can get.

Skills: Axes, bows, brawling, crossbows, evade, hammers, spears, swords
Heroic Ability: Veteran- You may spend willpower points to keep your initiative draw from the previous round
3. Age and Name
Already mentioned, my character's name will be Aleric. He will be a young fighter. Being young will give him a +1 to Agility and Constitution. He is trained in 8 skills, 6 of which must be from the fighters class skills.
4. Roll Attributes
Skills are rolled as follows:
Roll 4d6 and drop the lowest. Assign the rolls to the stats in order, starting with strength. Once all skills are assigned, you may swap two stats.

My rolls:
STR: 16/ CON: 18/ AGL: 14/ INT: 10/ WIL: 16/ CHA: 10
I swapped my strength and Constitution. With the age bonuses, Aleric's final stats are as follows:
STR: 18/ CON: 17/ AGL: 15/ INT: 10/ WIL: 16/ CHA: 10
5. Calculate Derived Ratings
Movement: Wolfkin start with 12 meter movement. With a 15 AGL, Aleric gains +2 for a total of 14 meters of movement per round.
Damage Bonus:
Melee Attack Bonus: +d6 extra damage
Ranged Attack Bonus: +d4 extra damage
Hit Points: Equal to Aleric's Starting CON- 17 HP
Willpower Points: Equal to his starting WIL- 16 WP
6. Choose Trained Skills
As a young wolfkin, Aleric can be trained in a total of 8 skills, 6 of which must be from the fighter profession's skill list.
His trained class skills are the following:
1. Axes 2. Bows 3. Brawling
4. Spears 5. Swords 6. Evade
His additional trained skills are the following:
7. Awareness 8. Crafting
7. Choose Gear
Aleric is armed with a broadsword and small shield. He also carries a sling in case long range is needed. He is armored with Chainmail. He also has a torch, flint and tinder. After rationing himself, he carries 8 days worth of rations and has 1 silver in is coin purse.
8. Miscellaneous (Weakness/Momento/Appearance)
Weakness-Aleric is foolhearty. He rushes into danger before he thinks.
Momento- Aleric carries a small wooden figurine of a wolfkin warrior. It is fashioned after his hero, the fabled demon slayer Ingolfr Stone-Gaze.
Appearance- Aleric wears an old worn cloak over his chainmail. His travel worn clothes show need of repair and age. He has two distinctly colored eyes, one a common brown the other shock white.
