Notorious: Session 3- A Fated Finale

Finding himself in a bit of an internal power struggle in the mystic order, Gurrak has to finish off this contract before he gets stuck in the details of the factions feud!

Gurrak speeds off, leaving the Scrapcrawler in the dust. Thoughts racing through his head. "Still no idea where Ishaa is. And now the fact that there's some kind of internal struggle in the mystic order. This could get messy. Best to get this job done and dusted before there's a full on civil war in the order's midsts." Gurrak continues his ride, hoping that just over the next dune some answer will appear to him.

Exploration Phase

Exploration Event -> Table 4/Event 6; An abandoned starfighter is buried in the desert.

Gurrak slows his hoverbike, catching sight of the abandoned starfighter. "Looks like its been here for a long time. Buried almost completely in the sand as it is. Maybe from some long forgotten fight between the Targ and the Old Empire when they were fighting for control of this damn sand bag of a planet." He moves in to inspect the remains of the starfighter. He is able to pull some scrap parts and fuel from wreck before he mounts his hoverbike and continues onward.

Destination Phase

Destination roll -> 2; A small outpost run by the Old Empire. Search for anyone who might know your target.

Search -> 3; No one has any info; -1 motivation

Gurrak continues on into the desert. After some time he spots an outpost off in the distance. The size of the place doesn't make Gurrak feel too optimistic that anyone will have a lead on Ishaa, but he has to be thorough if he's going to get this job done. He rides into the outpost, dismounting and looking for someone who looks like they now something. As Gurrak strides into the more centrally located market area of the outpost, he begins getting sideways glances from the locals. He attempts to approach a few people to ask about Ishaa, but anyone he approaches quickly rushes off. "Ah Damn this! Fine... Wasn't gonna get any information out of you bunch of backwoods sand eaters anyways!" In a huff, Gurrak storms off back to his hoverbike and leaves the outpost in the dust.

Just outside of the small outpost, Gurrak catches an odd sight. A starship is parked in an old abandoned docking port. Obviously it once served the old outpost he had just left, but its disuse shows. It's covered in the dust of the desert, the large cranes used to load and unload heavy cargo sit idle in disuse. Gurrak spots a familiar figure quickly moving cargo into the open hatch of the starship in an obvious rush. Gurrk races forward, yelling out to the Murian he could clearly recognize now. "YUUUCHUUUUU!!! You bastard, you still owe me for that job! And I want my trophy back! A gladiator's trophies are won in battle not stolen like a thief in the night!!!"

As Gurrak guns his hoverbike forward and yells out, Yuchu gives a start before looking up from the cargo and then quickening his pace. He rushes over to one of the heavy cranes, turning it on. As he does so the thing goes wild, swinging around wildly, blocking Gurrak from approaching. "Ah Gurrak, I heard you were in town... Looking for Ishaa for those damned Mystic Order dogs eh? Ha well it suits you. A dogs work for a dog like you, you fool Talok! I'm afraid your too late most likely. Ishaa is getting off world. Taking the boy and running. If you're lucky, he's already gone. That way at least you'll get off this planet with your life. Give it up you fool nomad, this is a contract you won't be finishing."

Gurrak yells out in anger at Yuchu's taunting. "Look I'm not here to set right a kidnapping. I've got a job to do! Ishaa is coming in dead or alive, with the kid or not!"

At that Yuchu looks surprised then quickly turns to a gleeful smile. "Kidnapped? You think Ishaa took the kid from the Order. Damned fool indeed. He didn't kidnap the kid, he's rescuing him! The mystic order on this planet are about to fall into a bloody little civil war while the Targ Cartel and the Old Empire laugh at them from the sidelines. That kid was supposed to be some kind of puppet figurehead. They thought they could finagle their way to the top at the kid's expense. Well Ishaa didn't want to see some kid used up like that, a big target on his back and everything. So it was a rescue mission! All the more reason for you to pack up your ship and get on like the rest of us. You won't be finding Ishaa now. Give up Nomad!" Yuchu continues to laugh as Gurrak looks for an opening as the mechanical crane continues to whirl around in between him and Yuchu. After not giving any sign of giving up, Yuchu draws a blaster from his side holster. "Suit yourself Gurrak. Look don't say I didn't give you an out! No hard feelings, old friend" With a wry smile he pulls the trigger just as Gurrak is able to tackle the whirling crane mechanism aside and rush forward towards his prey!

Gurrak evades the blast as Yuchu is caught off guard by his sudden rush. The crane continues to swing behind Gurrak, but he's closed in and able to make quick work of the Murian. In three mighty swings of his power hammer, Gurrak has brought Yuchu down to a bloody pulp. "You know Yuchu, I didn't care about the job going sideways... But stealing that trophy from me. That is going to far. Looks like I'll have to add a new one today..." With that Gurrak brings the hammer down, finishing off Yuchu. He collects his trophy, the Murian's ear, and hooks it onto his bundle of dried grim trophies at his belt. With a grin he turns, back on his hoverbike with even more haste. Ishaa is trying to get off the planet, and Gurrak is going to have to stop him.

Gurrak consults his map, looking for the nearest large settlement or anywhere that he might be able to find some information before its too late and Ishaa has gotten off planet. He spots Quan's Moisture Farm not too far from his current location and zooms off on the hoverbike. Once he arrives he charges forward in an obvious hurry. A guard moves to block the entrance as Gurrak closes in. "Not today pal, I'm in a hurry" he says forcefully, menace dripping from every word.

Threaten -> 3+ 1/2 notoriety(3) vs 4; Success; Neutralized ->5; Mutter about knowing a nomad and retreat

The guard stops in his tracks. Gurrak can hear the guard muttering under his breath as he retreats back to the guard station, letting him through "Damned nomads, always in such a hurry. Like my dumb brother, he'll probably be dead soon anyways..." Gurrak pays no attention and moves with purpose into the interior of the moisture farm.

Gurrak is pointed towards a scrap vendor. Locals assure him that if anyone knows anything about anyone coming through the moisture farms it would be Tas Ackbo. Gurrak hurries off to interrogate the vendor. After giving the description of Ishaa to Tas, the vendor quickly recognizes Gurrak's target. "Ah yes, I remember him. Came through not long ago. Maybe a few hours. Bought some supplies to get through the desert and departed in a hurry! He seemed well armed. Looked tough, like he knew a way around a fight and had seen his fair share of them!" Gurrak sighs in relief, finally catching a break. He asks Tas if he knew where he was going. "Well, not too many spaceports around here. He was gearing up for a journey I imagine with what he was buying. Here I'll mark it for you." Tas marks the location of the nearby spaceport on Gurrak's map. "And before you go, here. I can tell you've been all over these damned deserts today. This thing will collect water from the air and purify it for you. You'll need it if you're going to tussle with that rough fighter your after."

Gurrak smiles a toothy grin, though it looks more menacing than he realizes. "Finally someone on this damned dusty rock with a good head on their shoulders. Thanks friend. I won't forget your help." With the information, Gurrak departs, ready to make the final chase to Ishaa before he can get off planet.

5; They follow Gurrak looking for a fight. They are obviously professional gladiators themselves, looking to steal a fellow gladiator's trophies off Gurrak.

Gurrak catches some odd glances as he makes his way hurriedly out of the moisture farm towards his hoverbike. He hears some rough looking sorts making comments of his trophies hanging at his belt. The blood still fresh from the new addition of Yuchu's ear added to the mix. He's nearly out of the moisture farm when he hears the quick approach of footsteps behind him. Gurrak reels around, Power hammer at the ready. Just in time, the first thug tries to take a swipe at Gurrak while he is off guard. Gurrak brings the hammer down across the man's head and knocks him to the ground. The second thug looks to take advantage of Gurrak's focus on his friend and moves in to stab at the gladiator. Gurrak is far too prepared. He catches the second thug just as he did the first, leaving the two wanna be gladiators in bloody heaps on the ground. Gurrak spits on them as they lay reeling from the blows. "You're lucky I ain't got time for you right now. Let this be a lesson in manners to the both of you!" He turns and just as quickly is back out to the hoverbike and back on the road.

As the sun sets and the moon rises to its peak, Gurrak finds himself approaching the rundown spaceport that Tas directed him to. A lone starship sits at dock, a figure unhurriedly loading cargo and doing preparation for launch. Gurrak jumps off his hoverbike and rushes forward to confront Ishaa. As he approaches, the moonlight reveals the figure of someone Gurrak thought long dead. Though he knew the ghol by another name at that time, before him is the heroic gladiator who Gurrak once looked up to as a lowly fighter in the gladiator pits where he cut his teeth and learned how to fight. ISHAA. Or I guess that's what they call you now. This is the end of the road for you! Come quietly or I'll be dragging your dead corpse to the Mystic Order."

The figure pauses, slowly turning around to see who is yelling a challenge to him. "Ah, Nomad! I heard you were chasing me around the desert. Had a fun time on Talus I hope! But unfortunately, it's you who will be meeting your end. I'm getting off this planet, taking the kid somewhere safe!" He eyes Gurrak up and down, his eyes lingering on the bundle of grim trophies hanging at Gurrak's belt. "Ugh, a damned gladiator ey? Traded in one chain for another... Nomad's aren't much better than those damned fighting pits, pitting you up against fights they don't care if you win or lose. A pity. This could've been different..."

With that Ishaa picks up his own power hammer, resting against the chassis of the starship. With an almost casual air about him, Ishaa moves forward, hefting the hammer for a fight!

Gurrak and Ishaa trade blows back and forth. The fight is heated and scrappy as the gladiatorial experience from both fighters rears its head. Neither fighter gains advantage at first, as both Ishaa and Gurrak take heavy blows from their power hammers. Finally, Gurrak spots an opening in Ishaa's defenses. He brings his hammer down, crushing the Ghol gladiator's head in, leaving Ishaa dead at his feet.

A cry from the opening of the starship rings out as Gurrak looks up to see a young boy watching on with fearful eyes. "Don't worry kid. I'm not here to take you in. My job is done. You're on your own now, whatever good that'll do for you." Gurrak glares down and Ishaa, fuming at the man's final words. "Chains, eh? I suppose I'm no better off now than when I was in the fighting pits. But at least I'll bring in a hefty bit of creds with you done for..." He pauses for a moment, looking down on the dead face of the man who once inspired him as he fought for his life in the gladiator pits. With one final sigh, he pulls the body up, strapping it over the back of his hoverbike.

He returns to the Mystic Order with his target's body. He quickly catches the angered yelling of the Order's head, having not brought back the boy. "LOOK HERE OLD MAN! I'm not here to take sides in whatever tiff you and your mystic order buddies are fighting about. My job was Ishaa. He's dead and here's proof. Pay up and after that, you can do whatever you want. I'm done. Consider me already off planet." With that, Gurrak returns to his starship, a job done and off into space waiting for the next contract to be sent his way.

Gurrak's actions on Talus spread far and wide across the sector. A wake of bloodied bodies and the starts of a civil war between the mystic order factions. Over the next several months, Gurrak only receives a few contracts. Turns out he's made a name for himself. People know him by just a quick glance. More informants end up running in fear than sitting to give him any information. Discretion was never his strong suit, but his notoriety follows him everywhere he goes, the Terror of Talus, the mighty, terrible Nomad Gurrak Valdraar.


Gurrak's mission has come to a conclusion! Looks like the nomad made quite the stir on Talus. Thats all for Notorious for now!
