The Broken Empres: Character Creation 1 Brevak Flintbeard

With the release of the PDFs of The Broken Empires, I'm going to start getting characters made for a campaign for the system. I'm really excited to get this game to the table. I'll be running this with a party of four and using the solo tools in the rulebook, possibly supplementing it with Mythic GME if needed. Heres part 1 of 4 in character creation!

The first steps of character creation is to create a character concept. Here are the four concepts that I'll be using. These are just loose ideas and they might change as the characters are made.

Character Concepts: Party of Four

  1. Dwarf warrior traveling the Broken Empires as a sellsword, seeking vengeance on the bandits who slew his wife and daughter when they were travelling to sell wares at the nearest large city.
  2. Bolg Fir cleric spreading knowledge and faith to the lesser peoples of Theryn
  3. Human spellweaver on a quest for dangerous knowledge that may rip him from the weave
  4. Human Ranger searching for answers about the disappearance of his lover (Replaced?)

Life Events

Origin -> 75; Scion of Glory
One of your parents was a celebrated hero, famed for a great deed or tragic sacrifice. What did they do? What burden or expectations has their legacy placed on you.

"My parents saved the village from an orc assault. Without their sacrifice, the village surely would have fallen. While many understand the sacrifice does not change anything about who I am as a person, there are many who expect me to be willing to do the same, should the circumstances arise"

+10 Athletics

Youth -> 100; Glimpse Beyond
During a moment of meditation or turmoil, you connected to something greater -- A fleeting vision, cryptic message, or profound realization. What did it show you about the past, present, or future? How has your interpretation of the signs altered the course of your life?

"In a moment of extreme clarity, I recognized the scheming of a plot to utilize my notoriety from my parents sacrifice to extort the village. This was the last straw for me. I packed my meager possessions and left the care of my foster family. I set out to find a new home where my history would be forgotten."

+10 Insight

Recent -> 54; Sacred Vigil
You participated in a ritual that required you to stay awake and focused for days in prayer or meditation. What vision came to you at the height of your altered state? How has it shaped your beliefs?

"I was only trying to earn a little coin, but the odd request of my employer ended up paying off in dividends. Standing vigil for days at a time, watching over the completion of the spellweavers ritual, I saw the faces of strangers. Though I did not know them at the time, I saw that tying my wagon to their cause would bring great riches and the key to vengeance for my family"

Summary

Brevak Flintbeard is a dwarf of middle age. He fled his home village at a young age and set out to find a quiet place to start his life over after a rather violence filled childhood. He married and had a daughter, worked hard at a forge making finely crafted weapons and armor that he would sell to the guard and adventurers in the nearest city. On one such trip, bandits bearing a claw iconography set upon him and his family. He escaped barely with his life, but his daughter and wife were not so lucky. After this incident, he set out as a sellsword, selling his expertise in weapons to the highest bidder in hopes of finding the bandits and enacting vengeance for his family.

And theres the first of four characters for the broken empires! Will get these posted up as I make them leading into a new campaign starting soonish! You can find the character sheet and link to session posts here:
